Saturday Morning

Getting ready to pack but also still fighting cold and allergies...not good! Sabrina and I have an 8 a.m. session on cybertheft. mmmm....cybertheft and breakfast...what a combination! Sabrina did a wonderful job and then it was onto her next presentation on blogs.

How was the One Book, One Conference session? Sounds like this was fun! If you went, please let me know!

  • The One Book, One Conference session was fun, enlightening, and controversial. Our guest public librarian gave an excellent booktalk discussing the characters and highlights of the story. She also identified the discussion points in the story - changes in librarianship, fighting to keep libraries open in the 21st century, does the Internet replace libraries, and what is the perception of the librarian. She discussed these points by addressing the extremes that the story used to move along the plot. We had a fantastic and lively discussion on these points which were particularly relevant with the news of libraries of all types being threated with closing, such as the State Law Library of Georgia.

I was unsure about this session. It was a good session and I was glad that I included it in the program.
